The picture from today vanished. I found a little pair of 10k hoops, weighing a bit over a gram stones included. Not much to see. I did however finally get to the pix from earlier this month. Paid $6 for the lot. Japanese windup frog, glass millefiore paperweight and all.

The butterfly is a reticulated hat decoration. The wings can move. I found it months ago without any of those stones in the center of the enamel, and finally got around to fixing it.

The regular treatment — and I’m very happy with the result. I’m honestly trying to find a way to fit it into the house so I don’t have to part with it.

On second review, I’ve come to appreciate the level of craftsmanship in this piece even more. The balance between the intense flame birch on the top and front and the calmer figuring on the sides works beautifully. Combined with the architectural build and the bracket feet at the base, it gives the piece both weight and elegance.

    Marvelous.

I think it's fabulous. "Modest" perhaps but unabashedly so.

Thanks. THe enamel was intact, and gluing in stones was more patience than problem. I only wish it had friends. I was back in the store today and no such luck.

I hope Hallingdalen has better luck finding a skeleton key that fits the dresser. If the latches work, they keep small children, cats and ferrets out.

I have the original keys, and the amazing part is that the locks work seamlessly after 200 years!

WOW. Whoever made them did it well.

These days they make furniture from sawdust and glue, and it falls apart when it gets wet. It lasts ten years if it doesn't. I prefer Biedermeyer furniture!

This just proves that crazy finds can happen anywhere humans have been for long enough. Or fossils anywhere exposed rocks can happen. The little boy was looking for anything that was different, and found one.

I got this from the clearance I went to advise on this morning.

Orthocone cephalopod fossil (several)from Morocco, millions of years old, cut and polished into a trinket tray.
Its extremely tactile, its a keeper.
