Hi everyone! I found this beautiful vintage piece and would really love your help identifying the artist or the studio.
It is a hand-painted ceramic tile showing a dancing couple in a cool geometric, cubist style.
In the bottom left corner, there is a handwritten monogram that looks like the letters Z and S combined together, with the numbers 1920 written vertically below it. The back of the tile is completely blank.
Does anyone recognize this signature or the artistic style? Any leads on where or when this could have been made would be amazing. Thank you so much for your help!

Hi! Hi! Was that your reddit inquiry that was removed? Could you confirm that the piece is in the UK? And you believe the monogram reads ZS or SZ? By way, I see the date as 1990 as well. Would you be kind enough to provide us with its dimensions? And a photograph of the back -- even though blank?

Hi Debora! Yes, that was my post! And yes, the piece is here in the UK. Here are the back photos and dimensions – 18cm × 12cm. There was some kind of sticker or label on the back originally, but it's no longer there.

Regarding the monogram, you're absolutely right – looking at it more carefully now, I can see a capital Z with what appears to be an S inscribed within or through the middle of it. And yes, I think you're correct about the date as well – I'm now confident it's 1990, not 1920. I'm not entirely sure why it appeared different to me yesterday, but looking at it again today, 1990 is definitely the correct reading.

Hi! I'm new to Reddit, but from what I can tell, the post is still up. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Just referencing an earlier comment- Ebay,Reddit, etc sometimes play around with posters comments/listings for the most inane or unknown reasons.

Welcome to Antiquers! Nicely done tile and a studio potter/artist IMHO. There was a "neo-deco" type design and decorating trend in the late 80s and early 90s so looks to me like SZ or ZS was having fun with a "neo-cubism!"

And this is a good example of why posting the back of pieces, even when blank, is so important. There's nothing about this that says antique. (And I acknowledge that pieces can be reframed but, in this case, the back does appear to be original.)

What a fantastic community to be part of – I genuinely wouldn't have thought to look at the back at all. Thank you for sharing this, it's exactly the kind of detail that takes time to learn and I'm grateful people here are so generous with their knowledge!
