chairset1.JPG chairset2.JPG chairset3.JPG chairset4.JPG chairset5.JPG chairset6.JPG Can anyone help me to determine the style and possible age of a set of four chairs I just acquired. They are heavy and made of solid wood. They appear to have been refinished with newer glue blocks added. Each has a hand written number 2654 on the inside of the front rail. These are better quality then the mass produced pieces we usually come across. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

They actually look more 20th century to me. Compare the quality of the wood and the quality of the carving to the one you linked to at antiques-atlas - huge difference.

is this the state of the art English way to nail the fabric on the frame ?
I see your point, but that "English" network of outlets doesn't seem to be a real reference.
as I recently learnt here - it could be even American :); I feel a Depression coming up, have to cut it...:depressed:
