Bought these 2 pots, that some describe as tobacco jars, others as tea jars, and I found one describing it as a cigar and a cigarette jar.
And there's also discord with aging and pricing...
    So, what's your verdict? :)

And is this a maker's or another type of mark?

I'm pretty sure it's Indonesian. The double headed peacock might just be an aesthetic thingy for symmetry. But AJ will definitely have all the answers :)

Marote is right (of course), Indonesian.
They are from a 1930s tobacco set made in East Java, Indonesia.
These tobacco sets were mostly made for colonials, but based on the techniques and imagery of East Javanese sirih/betel sets, like mine:

As said, the wayang figure is Indonesian. It couldn't be more Javanese if it tried.;) The origin of wayang lies in East Java.

The double-headed peacock is also a very Javanese symbol. Originally a symbol of royalty, but later used as a general motif. It has a shorter, more compact tail than the usual Continental Asian peacocks, because it takes it shape (minus second head:wacky:) from the Javanese peacock-pheasant, so it is actually a member of the pheasant family:

No, it isn't. Just an indentation.

    Of course
But do you mean that I was right regarding it being Indonesian?
Or that I was right saying that you would have all the answers?
    :D

But are they tobacco jars, or cigar/cigarette jars?

    :(
