I found this ring yesterday in a thrift store.
    Citrine, marcasite, sterling. Unmarked.
    Missing one marcasite.
Well made with nice geometric gallery and teeny milgrain details.
Paid $65, which is way more than I usually spend, but I couldn't leave it there all alone and unloved.

Ring sizing balls (also called French beads or speed bumps) are small metal spheres soldered inside a ring's shank. They prevent top-heavy rings from spinning and for accommodating large knuckles while keeping the base snug.
Someone must've liked this ring enough to have it sized up and the balls added to prevent spinning. I can see the solder points where a small section of shank was added in.
I have sizing balls on one of my diamond rings that used to spin on my finger. They really work.

Are you sure that's not andradite garnet? Citrines are yellow, but andradite garnet can be that orange and that big.

If it was a big fancy color garnet, like spessartite or andradite wouldn't it probably be set in gold?
The color is really nice and orangey. Maybe Madiera citrine? When I go to the next gem and mineral show in October, I'll ask someone to check with a Presidium tester.

Thank you! I had to put hand lotion on before the photo 'cause my dry hand was making the ring look bad

I didn't know anything other than green garnets were worth worrying about. Madiera citrine is in the hunt.

Today's hither and yon, up at 5AM stuff wasn't worth a photo. Yesterday? A 90s KC Chief's sweatshirt with a newer hat. Sterling and engraved crystal/glass coaster , signed. Bohemian glass, I think, vase. The gilding is gone. The Elijah's cup isn't marked, but it's sterling. Polished up a treat after I took the photo.

These are probably my find of the year, and I will post a thread to expand on this topic further, but I'm just gonna leave these pics here for starters :D 20260621_115907(1).jpg 20260621_115922(1).jpg 20260621_115929(1).jpg

I asked the seller if he knew what theater they came out of and he said he didn't know. I hope to God that they didn't land at a scrapper!

These aren't recent finds, but came across the suitcase (bought a few years ago) while I was rearranging some of my things, and decided to take a pic, and post it here (for @cxgirl :)), together with a large coloring book (bought last year)
