Recently purchased this flame birch chest and accompanying mirror from a former antiques dealer who is liquidating his remaining stock, with delivery in august.

A high-quality Scandinavian flame birch chest and mirror of the Karl Johan/Biedermeier tradition, likely made for a prosperous middle- or upper-class household in the first half of the 19th century.

    $260.

Not if I got to it first! That set is gorgeous. These days I'm lucky to see things "made of real wood", never mind proper antiques.

Portuguese pocket calendars from the 80s
Bought 2 albums 2 years ago, filled with 80s pocket calendars with various subjects (sports, movies, singers, bands, cartoons, religious images, 18+, etc. etc.)

Yesterday I had a half tonne of inch sized gravel delivered to fill in a few holes and spots were I have removed garden fixtures and large pots and tubs ready for my house move.
I've put all the items in storage.

The gravel is locally sourced from pits created in the ice age,
it always contains small shells and fossils.

Today I started shovelling it out and going through it.

    Amazingly I found a 9ct yellow gold clasp and a 9ct white gold earring:eek:

I found a few shells and minor fossils and then I found this ridged stone.
I don't know if its a fossil or a stone.
The ridges run the full length and are almost like a fingerprint, its only an inch long.
    Any ideas ?

Definitely looks like a fossil. My first guess would be a fragment of plant stem, but I'm really just guessing. Looks like it has been tumbled, but glacial action can do that.

I thought fossil too. The white gold looks like hoard material.

That reminds me of when we built our house. We found really old tiles after it was framed & the CBC was going in.
