This vase was at a thrift (so not expensive) and I was immediately drawn to it even with the damage. It just reminded me of early 20th C, and I liked the organic looking leaves. Decided to get it even with the damage.

Well, now realize that it is the incised signature is for Tiffany, but question now is whether it is actually Tiffany or a fake.

    Thoughts?

Damage side. It's like the glaze (?) has fallen or chipped off.

How exciting! I would probably not bought it because of the damage and the cypher wouldn’t have meant anything to me.

Thanks, Bronwen. Gosh, that one photo in the link looks a bit like this, and yes this is white colored clay. Finger's crossed!

Crazy as it sounds the cypher meant nothing to me at all at the store other than I couldn't make heads or tails out of it. I liked the look of the vase and thought I could turn the damage around when displaying.

I'd keep it for Tiffany bragging rights.

Thanks, hope this all means it's the real deal. I do plan to keep it, either way!

I know nothing about pottery. Is the damage to this piece detrimental to the value? I'd guess so. Can it be repaired/restored? Would that help the value?

Either way, it's a pretty thing, isn't it?

Damage is very detrimental to the value of pottery, but maybe could be restored.

Heck Tiffany probably even has a repair service.

Or I can offer you double what you paid at the thrift store :D

I joined this group and the overwhelming consensus is that this is an early Tiffany piece. Many people commented, 8 posts and 30 likes split between the 8 posts. 100% felt it was the real deal.

    Pretty cool! :)

Thank you for the suggestion @cxgirl
