Hoo boy! .... Sounds a lot like my own situation with a lot of lamps and parts, though what I have tends to be older and/or more collectable. I am not seeing anything to get too excited about. That said, you probably have some decent lamps in the under $50.00 range. Most probably under $25.00. Not having shades for most will make them a hard sell at retail. The glass and ceramic lamp bodies I see are not really old enough to have much value. The ginger jar lamps are probably 70s discount/department store lamps so, again, not a lot of value. Run of the mill ceramic lamps, in general, don't have a lot of demand even if quite old. For example, your handled ceramic lamp, though probably 75 years old, would sell for under $25.00 most places. Even then, it would be a hard sell.

I guess I would post some more group photos to see if you have any home runs. As pointed out above, your MCM lamp is something that is in demand. However, this one is not exceptional and, not having a shade, hurts it. Those gooseneck desk lamps always have a following but not a big-ticket item. Barring anything really good, your best bet might be to send the lot to auction and let the chips fall where they may. If you want to maximize return, you might list a few on facebook marketplace to see if you get any bites. You can always send the rest to auction afterwards.

@verybrad - How about that one with the 3 orange balls in the back?

To me... Looks about the same age as the ginger jars and the color supports that.

I was referring to the one in the back row to the right of the gooseneck lamp. It has that "1970s burnt orange" look.:happy:

I don't see three orange balls. The orange lamp probably is 70s but just another inexpensive ginger jar lamp. The only thing going for it is the color.

I'm thinking this is the three ball orange/red one. Can't really make out the one next to it or some of the others. (not that I can help other than look for comparisons)

The goose neck lamp but can't make it out very well either.

I've found with MCM lamps one has to focus on them having a signature, or being made of quality materials and construction. With the huge production of them 1950-70's - more often then not of fairly light, lower quality porcelain, wood & steel. Pictured is a Modeline . .. teak, brass, and hand applied abstract decoration on plexiglass panels. The lamp just stands out - very large and in charge. upload_2026-6-29_10-21-19.jpeg

I just didn't see those as balls. It is an interesting lamp. 70s Spanish revival with that metal base. Looks like it could be satin glass, and if the base lights up, a real bonus.

The whitish one in the foreground of this picture (right behind the draped white wires) looks interesting. It is older than most in the photo. It may have been painted, which is not a good thing.

The big one in the back with the mesh window in the base is, again, 70s and sort of Spanish revival. Might appeal to some. Not to me.

The key to selling any of these at retail is having an appropriate shade for them. Finding and matching shades to lamps is harder than one might think. I have dozens of lamps waiting for just the right shade to come along. I also have dozens of shades waiting for just the right lamp.

Agree. Shades are what gives a lamp its personality. Like a woman's eyebrows. ;) People toss 'em when they're damaged not realizing they can be recovered but not replaced.

@say_it_slowly - Yes that is the one I was talking about.:happy:

@verybrad - I would not have thought about it lighting up.:happy:

I do agree with the others about how to sell the items. Unless you are planning on taking a fairly long time to find the right buyers, I would seek out an auction house close to you & contact them about selling them for you.

You should call first because not all auction houses would take the lot. Where I live we have around 6 of them, but at least 2 of them would not even consider accepting them.

Back when I use to work at one of the auction houses, I was walking around checking out the items for the next sale. One of the things that was there was a pair of vintage 1970s Mediterranean-style lamps with the huge glass piece & the shades had velvet accents with tassels. :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::eek::eek::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I started to laugh & told the auctioneer "every time I think you have sold the most butt-ugly lamp you top them a few weeks later". :hilarious::hilarious:

When I asked him if he thought we would live long enough to see that Mediterranean look come back into style he replied "I don't think my grandchildren will live long enough to see that happen".:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

...and here we are. Those butt-ugly lamps are hot items. People like what they like, and what they like is strange to a lot of us.
