Here's a few oil paintings I picked up a while ago at a thrift. They were done by a student of Birger Sandzen. The artists name is Evelyn Sheetz- the one piece of 'Cathedral Spires' Sandzen also painted. Ms Sheetz may have painted the 'Spire' piece on a field trip with Sandzen.
Isn't that a lovely little cottage-and it's survived all these years ! LOOK at that price-1.15 MIL for a little place right next to the practice field of a school...the reason we fled Cal 25 years ago ! Bet the setting was pretty bucolic 80 years ago ?
Thanks Roaring-they've got a primitive power to 'em and have a nice Mission/Santa Fe feel. Now if those were actually signed by the Maestro- 'Birger Sandzen' ?!
Got these in a Portland thrift-kismet.I got them while they were still on the cart. I've given-up any pretense of shyness these days when I'm out pickin' !
If something you like is not in your hand, it is someone else's! ... unless your very lucky. We went at a church rummage sale, my wife says "hay, look at that grandfather clock", I replied without looking " I'm not interested in a grandfather clock". Thirty minutes later in the check-out line she says, "that's an interesting grandfather clock", I looked and asked her to go and put her hand on it and tell me the price ... "$15 dollars" she said. "Stay there and keep your hand on it". It's been in the house about 25 years. It's a 1931 Philco Grandfather Clock Radio.
Those paintings are great. Gimme. There's 3 of them, right? Your title says 2, but maybe I'm confused. Great finds!
