    Another insect catch!;)
French Ebay, I was the only bidder on this big (5cm or 2", 15 grams) cicada!:bucktooth:

The seller said "tested for gold by a jeweller"... that dumbass even not noticed the horse head hallmark on the pin... and rubbed the sharp point of the needle:facepalm:

Seller didn't described the signature GUIRAUD struck on back of each wing!
Halas, neither described the lack of the C clasp!:rage:
I couldn't see that due to reflects in the pic...

But:smuggrin: very pleased with my buy, I kyratised the C clasp with a gold open ring I had, held in place with UV curing resin further gilt with rub'nbuff:)

Plique a jour was just invented for dragonfly wings. Absolutely the best use of the technique.

I love buying from sellers who miss lots of important details, but use good pics so I can catch the mistakes ... as long as they're in my favor. Not as much fun when you sell something and miss lucrative details.

It is stunning, kyra, the most beautiful 'bug' you have posted so far. We all love sellers who won't read.
The seller should have mentioned the broken C-clasp of course. But on the other hand, broken C-clasp? Come on, of course our kyra can handle a simple broken C-clasp!:joyful:
My guess is Provence, where they wear cicada brooches on the fichu of the costume.

Isn't his belly awfully realistic? Eeek!:jawdrop:;)

Can't say what is the carved black stone...
Onyx... glass... it is carved, not molded, and non scratchable with a needle:peeking:
