Atypical Navajo Basket

I am curious what the other basket oriented people make of this one. @komokwa, @Potteryplease, @J Dagger, @Taupou

It is very typical for a Navajo/Paiute wedding basket in technique and materials, but certainly not in design. Perhaps just a contemporary version?

no matter how you slice it...the design is wrong....

 

Wow-- agree with your observations: materials and technique look totally right, including the 'opening' in the design aligned with the tapered finish on the outer edge. But the design is not any traditional wedding basket design that I'm familiar with.

Yes, I have it. Materials seem right, just not aged.
