    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    You mean function, or brand?
I think they're egg cups (function).

You sit eggs in them... soft-boiled... then spoon at them or dip bread or such... they're a dainty way of making it neater or easier... no idea of maker or origin. :)

They remind me of sake cups - they look wider in some of those pictures than they do in others.

Are they egg sized? Does an egg sit comfortably in them? If so, then I think Gila is correct. They look like studio pottery, which would mean finding a maker is unlikely. And age? Maybe the last couple decades... unless someone chances on an ID, it's just very difficult to tell.

Sake or tea are very good possibilities as well.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

2.5 inches in diameter... I just measured my egg cups... a tad less than 2 inches. A quick Google tells me they do vary, but... hmmmmm...

    Sake...
    Tea...
    ????...

    EDIT
Wouldn't it have been clever to make them multi-purpose... eggs, sake, tea...
In any event, they can be re-purposed to accommodate such!

I think they're too big for sake, but, yes, whatever you want them to be.

2½" wide ... Ooops, I missed seeing that detail above your photos - sorry. Does seem too wide for sake (a little thick-walled as well - in my opinion)

Just ignore me :) I was taken by the shape and the color of them ... not the important details ;)

I would say they're modernist studio pottery, slip glazed over terra cotta.

For sipping Matteus or Lancers Rosé, era-wise. :) wink wink

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

My egg cups measure 1 3/4" small end, 2 5/8" larger end, LOA is 4"......so I guess they can vary widely in size...........

Those would be for quail eggs and hen eggs.
