Silver cream & sugar set help.

Hello, we have a cream and sugar set, made of metal. They are both marked 100% on the bottom, but we don’t know what that means exactly or what type of metal they would be. Has anyone else seen marks like this before?
We have not tested for silver yet.
Any help is appreciated… TIA!

Gorgeous Kutch silver set, Anglo-Indian silver from NW India. My favourite colonial silver style, I have a few pieces myself.

Wow-that's beautiful. Funny but the first thing that popped into my brain was a Mughal vibe-right continent,but probably a bit later ?

My husband found it at our local thrift store. It was still on the cart, so he got it before they even put it on the shelf.

 

Yes, a bit later, but some of the art of the former Mughal regions still shows Mughal influence. Not sure if that is present in Kutch ware, it looks very Indian/Pakistani to me. Similar swirls are found in the arts of Java and neighbouring (former) Hindu islands.

He has a good eye.

 

Absolutely-pouncing on a fresh loaded cart is the way it's generally done these frenetic days !
The local thrift's parking lot's usually packed 15 minutes after opening-there's a line waiting for the doors to be unlocked 7 days a week.

 

Use a nice foaming polish on those. Easy to wash away so no polish gets stuck in the design and turns to pink cement

 

Would the letter B on the sides represent an initial of the owner(s)?

 

Yes, it would. They would have commissioned the set. Cartouches for initials or crests are often seen on Kutch silver, and not always engraved or filled with a repoussé initial, like this one.
