Found a couple abstracts this weekend, right price and we both liked them,PLUS-they're both ready to hang !
They're by an artist abt 4 hrs south-Marie Maretska. She creates copper panels 'painted' w/ glass frit fired in a kiln.
To me they've got a MCM to 70's/80's vibe-plus we both like orange. Somehow they didn't get bashed !
    Sizes- 28.5" by 15" and 23" by 16".

What great finds! And in excellent condition. I'd think a bit later than that because of their boldness and proportion. But I could be wrong.

    Thanks Debora-We really like 'em.
Chronologically I think you're right-prob 90's based on what little I can find on artists history . IMHO visually they could span a few decades-but they're still fresh. Plus amazingly- not bashed up !

What I find interesting is that the artist varies the width of her panels. The narrower, more static panel at left drives the movement forward.

Thanks Lucille. Yes Debora re the panel width-there's a lot of visual push and pull. Good amount of content in well executed abstracts, even tho the old cliche is-what the hell's this painting all about ?
If you let your mind loose you could get the impression of a bamboo grove w/ a dangling spider, maybe in a humid drizzly environment-lots of stuff if you allow the mind to float.
Course it's also OK if your brain always sees a burnt semi-melted sheet of copper (in a good or bad way).
    I disliked Jackson Pollock for 50 years-now I think I finally get him !

These tiles are very nice! The first one is my favorite because it has more going on and the shape really suits me. I could hang that in my house easily. To me they don't have to represent anything, I just like seeing how the materials looked/turned out after they were fired.

    Thanks Pott,AJ and Johnny.
Ola-yep, to me non-objective art can trigger memories, feelings. Some can sense peace, others disturbance and some folks are neutral.
You don't really have to ask more of a piece than just pleasant decor ?
PS-Enamel & copper makes some beautiful jewelry too.
