Stamp with numbers on this Italy Sterling ring

    Hi all,
    I bought this ring this morning, Can see inside Italy and 925.
    But this other mark puzzles me. I can't focus on it any better but there is a figure then 135 68.
    Does someone know what that means?
    And i knoe I haven't cleaned the top because i was trying to figure how i was going to polish in the deep grooves. it's an odd shape, maybe had something inside the top part?

    Hah. I have the identical ring. I don't think it's meant to be anything, other than decorative.

    Grooves: cotton bud aka Q tip will do it.

    It could be that the "figure 135 68" is actually "star 135 letter letter" in the 1968 to present Italian silver marking system. See 1968 to present section by scrolling down a bit. https://www.925-1000.com/Fitalian_marks_01.html

    Of course that means that you need to figure out what the 2 letters are as they represent the region.

    So that is the makers mark and if I figure out the two letters that will tell us who made it?

    Not quite - it's the registration number of the smith in the region (the letters) in which registered - but the maker's own mark or logo would be something else.

    BG = Bergamo. Maker of this ring was number 135 on the Bergamo list.

    925-1000 has a section of over 300 pages of information (vintage advertising, commentary etc) but the entries are not in any particular order, so searching may be problematic .
