Yes! the Garage sales are back. Had some luck at them and the thrifts this morning.

Great haul!
From what I can tell, your Franciscan Desert Rose cups are teacups, not coffee cups. That style is sometimes referred to as a "flat cup" due to the shape. And being Made in the USA makes them truly vintage, pre-1984.

Yard sales on a Thurs?

 

Yes. They sometimes start as early as Wednesday here. There are usually a few on Thursday, then more on Friday and Saturday. They will run all 3 days so you can go back to the Thursday ones and find new stuff out on later days. And they run pretty much all day long from like 9 to 6. I LOVE it!

I've heard of Thursday sales. We get a few in the farethest flung part of the county on Fridays, but rarely do they have anything I want or are they close enough to hit. Most are on Saturday with a few on Sunday. They generally only run one to two days and likely don't have much new if there's a second day.

Most garage/yard sales, and some estate sales in NE Ohio begin on Thursday, unfortunately for us ppl who work.

 

All the estate sales here start on Friday at 9:00 am. There is one today I would be interested in but I can't figure out how to get there without going on the rush hour freeways which I won't do. You have to get there by 8:00 am to get a good number to get in early. It used to be that I could go later and there would still be things left because no one wanted to pay first day prices. But with all the auctions going on line, people pay more or they don't get want they want.

The last time I went in later and got literally nothing, I said to myself, Will you ever learn? So I stopped going at all. I really should concentrate on getting rid of the stuff in my basement and in the house. I watched my neighbor downsize to move to smaller digs and she said it has been ongoing for 2 years.

PS- Could be just me (?), picking fun, selling- yucck !

 

Just eBay right now. I'm on a waiting list for space in a mall.

I agree. Picking is a blast, but selling / listing is a PITA!

 

Here is what I came up with this morning between Thrift and Garage sales.

2 Hall's Crocus mixing bowls $5 ea
Bag of copper cookie cutters $1
3 Pieces of Spode Christmas tree (2 candle holders 1 creamer) $5
1 Waterford diamond clock $3.23
1 Wedgwood 1969 Christmas plate. $2
1 pink elegant liquor glass $1.21
3 sets of 4 elegant glass stems. 3 different patterns (still researching) $1.21 ea (stem)
3 elegant cut stems with uranium glass foot $1.21 ea.

 

When I was in a Mall, the best thing was the email we received every day with a list of our previous sales. I liked to gaze fondly on it and count my ducats. I actually thought it was all fun, except for the packing/shipping on eBay sales. Sometimes that would take all morning and sometimes more.

Christmas Spode always sells. I use the old oven trick to remove wax, if you're so inclined. Put newspaper on a jellyroll pan or in a baking pan (something with an edge) and the next time you heat up an oven, put the candlesticks in on their sides and turn the power off. The wax may melt out on its own, or it may take a paper towel to complete the job. My guess is they sell better cleaned up, and that's how I used to de-candle old menorahs.

 

I thank the Deity I don't have to scrounge for mediocre Fenton anymore to make Rent. There were some mighty dry weeks back in the ole Ebay days.
Ebay's some of the hardest 'Customer Service' butt smoochin' I've ever done.,etc !

 

Now you can't find a butt to smooch.
