It does appear to be a print. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you do a Google Image search to see if you come up with a match.

    Sniped...
Anton Mauve was also Van Gogh's Cousin, or cousin in law. I know they were related some how.

Classic Mauve, and a very Dutch scene. It looks like the original was painted in the 1870s-80s near Laren. Laren was a poor village in the middle of heathland, not far from Amsterdam. Anton Mauve was one of the founding members of the 'Laren School' of painting, and the village became an artist colony. Laren is now one of the most expensive places to live in the Netherlands.
True, Mauve was married to van Gogh's cousin. He also taught van Gogh, who painted many Mauve-inspired rural themes like 'The Potato Eaters'.
When van Gogh heard of Mauve's passing, he painted 'Souvenir de Mauve':

Hi. Here is more information about the original.

    Mauve_Herder-met-schapen.jpg

    Its called:
Shepherd with sheep in 't Gooi

    A. Mauve (Zaandam 1838 - 1888 Arnhem), watercolor, 50 x 35.5 cm, signed lower right
    Origin: private collection New York

    More about the artist: Worm.jpg

    Anthonij ‘Anton’ Mauve
    Zaandam 1838 - 1888 Arnhem
Anton Mauve was born in Zaandam but grew up in Haarlem. At the age of 16 he was apprenticed to the painter Pieter Frederik van Os in Haarlem and then to the horse painter Wouter Verschuur.

Together with fellow artist and fellow townsman Paul Gabriël, Mauve often went out into nature to paint. From the age of 20 he worked in Oosterbeek, where he met other artists such as Willem Maris, with whom he became good friends. Maris introduced Mauve to fellow artists in The Hague, which introduced Mauve to the Hague School.
His work received the famous silver tone. The location of The Hague by the sea will undoubtedly have played a role in this. Mauve preferred to capture the gray Dutch skies instead of blue with sunshine.
In 1871 Mauve moved into a studio in The Hague. There he briefly gave Vincent van Gogh, who was a cousin of Mauve's wife, painting lessons. Mauve's influence on Vincent was greater than is generally assumed. He took over themes such as spitters, potato eaters and timber sellers from Mauve.

From 1882, Mauve often worked in Laren in the summer. It was Jozef Israëls and Albert Neuhuys who drew Mauve's attention to the picturesque village. Together they went into nature and painted ydillic and moody landscapes. On the enthusiasm for Laren, Anton Mauve wrote to his wife Ariette on 3 June 1882: and the people are the sweetest kind that can be imagined. ... "
In 1885 Mauve bought the villa Ariette, named after his 18-year-old wife, in Laren and settled there permanently. That would only be for a short time because in 1888 he died during a family visit to an aneurysm.
Mauve spent his most productive years in Laren and together with Jozef Israëls, and Albert Neuhuys he was the founder of the Laren School.
The heathland with sheep herds that he painted in Laren were particularly popular. The area around Laren even received the honorary title of "Land van Mauve".

Great id, Jeanny. The fact that the original is from a New York collection would explain the popularity of the print in North America.

For the others, 't Gooi or Het Gooi, where this was painted, is the region around Laren.

Jeanny, it looks pretty much like my part of the country, the border region of Kempen and Peel, you may know it. Van Gogh's Nuenen is literally just down the road from me.
