I picked up something just because I didn't know what it was... anyone else guilty of this?
Wood handle about two feet long with measurements on the inch. Brass and adjustable.
Google search doesn't have any hints.

Google shows fireplace (blow) pokers that look a bit like that.

 

I say the hook is too small for moving logs around.............

 

Same here. It looks like it's meant to deal with heat, maybe moving wood fire cooking pots?

It was in with some automotive tools and other random stuff.
I was thinking some sort of cleaning jag like for a rifle but not with the wing nut.
Pipe cleaner on a large scale but brass and numbered from 1-9 twice and hash marks at what looks like inches (1/4" increments)

 

1/4" brass rod with a brass screw threaded in the end and a brass nut.
Wood handle, rod is marked in 1/4" hashes like a ruler per inch and numbered 1-9 twice.
Underside of the wing nut is marked Read here with an arrow.
Still can't load pictures.

 

that hook is meant to slide in increments .......hummm...& looks like it's been scored from use...
I also wonder if the top screw isn't missing a piece..?
