Help with a locket please

Second piece is the locket. When I look at the little girl on the front, all I can think of is Alice in Wonderland. The picture is under glass. I don't think it was hand painted. The chain is 17 inches with a older clasp (thumb ring or sport ring?). Is this piece from the 1930's? What about the little girl, unusual or could it really represent Alice? Any opinions or suggestions would be welcome. Thank you again for looking and help.

As above. It's one of the Tenniel illustrations. Didn't realize it had been reproduced so widely on jewelry.

The clasp on the chain is a sport ring, so 30s would fit, but those were used into the 50s.

The chain is only 17"? What size is the locket?

    One to make you bigger,
an' one to make you small,
an' the ones that Mother gives you
    don't do anything at all...

The locket is 1 1/4" long and 3/4" wide. It's possible the chain is not original to the locket. The clasp is throwing me as it is an older style.

Ah, good old Jefferson Airplane, now Jefferson Starship I believe.

Alice took the chain off too soon, and it didn't grow back to its original size...

The locket appears exactly like the modern one currently available on Ama*on. As already said, the chain may not be original to the locket, so it's very possible that the locket is contemporary but it's owner was careless with it, hence it's look of "age".
Perhaps if we see the inside...?

@bluumz As you requested here is the inside. I think these have been made for many years. So while I am convinced the chain is older, I don't think this one is new but it is not as old as the chain. resize 5.JPG

This one has an 18" chain, with a lobster clasp.

I guess the asking price is based on the extreme rarity. This seller only has 8 of them available...

    One pill makes you larger,
And one pill makes you small.

Curiouser and curiouser. All of them have not just the same illustration, the fronts at least are also the same. @Lizzie What do you think is causing that yellow appearance around the frame?

I don't know for sure but based on older jewelry that I've handled from the 50's-60's, it has the appearance of discolored dried glue residue. I see it a lot on thermoset Lucite pieces but the center with Alice on this piece is glass.

I wonder if that''s not a head shop piece. Certainly the psychedelic Drink Me Liquid illustration wouldn't have been used before then.

I would have gone with the hookah smoking caterpillar on the mushroom.

The length would be right for the hippie era. There was a mix of long + short worn.
