Recently picked this up, it's 11 1/2" tall and weighs about 7 pounds. No signature that I can find. It's a solid fired ceramic piece lightly glazed.
It's fastened to the base by a steel L-bar fastened to the sculpture by some type of glazing/hard adhesive(?) compound-different from the clay the art's made of.
When you turn it over you can see a round hole in the base, prob where a dowel held it upright while being sculpted. The hair is roughed in while the face is smoothly delicately rendered.
Almost looks like the face was cast and the hair quickly carved ?
Can anyone out there find a duplicate so we can see if it's gift shop type piece as opposed to a one-off original work of art ?

Ditto Komo- lots of quiet emotion IMHO sensitively rendered. Just trying to make sure it's a 'one-off' and not some home decor piece.

That's a real kid, for certain. I almost looks like she has a conditioning cap on.

Agree-same impression, one particular person, but as is common w/ these inexpensive discoveries, no sig. Alas beauty for beauties sake (as opposed to resale).
Here's a plant stand my Lady grabbed for reuse as a plinth- she's got a good eye !

The plinth suits it. Perhaps she's wearing a cap? I see an ornamental flower.

Is there a coil of hair at the back? Looks a lot like a cap to me too, except at the forehead, where the striated area seems to merge directly with the skin, as the hairline.

Yes-it seems the artist just 'sketched' in the hair and was totally involved with getting the girl's likeness.
