Featured George Bagnall Ohio Antique Sewer Tile Spaniel Dog?

Hello,
I purchased this antique sewer tile dog from an estate sale recently.
Could it be a George Bagnall Pottery (Newcomerstown, Ohio) spaniel dog? Or do you think it’s just in the style of? I’m hoping to get your opinions. It measures approximately 9.5” tall and weighs 9 lbs 13 oz.

I had to look up 'sewer tile dog.' So it's made from clay? Almost 10 lbs is heavy.

 

Yes, it’s a very dense clay.

 

Certainly has the attributes or is a very good copy. I would send some pictures off to Crocker Farms to see what they say. They are the experts in this sort of thing and are good at responding.

I had thought about emailing them because I saw that they had multiple auctions in the past of pieces attributed to George Bagnall, but I wasn’t sure if they would reply to that sort of inquiry. I’ll give it a try!

I just wanted to update that I heard back from Crocker Farms. They said that it was a nice piece and that they can include it in their auction if I would like to sell, although they did not specifically answer my question about it being attributed to George Bagnall.

 

Did they really use the word "nice" or is that a paraphrase?

If they are interested in selling it, they think it good regardless of attribution. They might need it in hand to make an attribution or would sell it in the style of.
