Any guesses as to the artist’s signature would be appreciated (still trying to figure it out) Surname Coan? It’s 40x51cm. Thanks for any help

    Could be Coin, with the dot above the surname:
    The surname Coin has multiple independent origins across Europe, most commonly functioning as an English/Scottish variant of Coyne.

    I'd call this a pen and ink with watercolor wash, and very well done. Confident strokes and loose pen and ink marks, no mud, and captures the quality of light of the day.

    Thank you for your reply and comments. Glad to hear you think it’s ‘good’ . Didn’t consider Coin and didn’t note the ‘dot’ before..

    the way the mat is cut & outlined , suggests the artist framed it themselves...

    12 years I worked with framers in collaboration , framing prints and paintings....

    True. But, if done by the painter and an amateur effort, adds to the work's charm.
