Featured Bacchus wine jug

Hello all, I have what i think is called a bacchus wine jug. Not really to my liking but I’ve always liked unusual things. Again like my other postings I have no idea of its origins. All information appreciated, ty.

 

No expert, just following visual clues. I thought the base would lead me. The elements sometimes provide clues that the whole does not. Naturally the auction does not show the marks.

Thx Roaring, it’s the closest I’ve seen to mine in all my looking, seems to be finer( not as bulky as mine). Pity that they didn’t show the underside. The markings on mine are very faint, it’s not just the picture.

 

Did someone make it into a lamp base at some point?

 

Wow, it's a whole bacchanalian scene. If a comparable is out there & shown by someone who recognizes the imagery, some words that might be used to describe it: ewer, pitcher, bacchanalia, Bacchus, Dionysus, Dionysian, maenads, bacchantes, satyr, Pan, grapes, wine, wineskin, revel, revel rout, goat, Silenus. From the title I was expecting to see the Minton Silenus jug or the one by Stephen Green.

 

Looks as though sellers are calling anything this ornate & colorful as Capodimonte, or a bit more honestly as Capodimonte style.

 

Is the square base attached to the rest of it with a screw?

 

A crowned A?

Think that's it. I was sort of seeing a crowned X, but knew that was unlikely.

This N has that italic lean. OP's looks more upright to me, more like the Reddit post.

Had the same thought. Suspect the vase is characteristic of a particular ceramic manufacturer, but...?
