Brooch,We Had the mark upside down

    I posted this the other day with some other things and couldn't figure out the mark. Today a friend was looking at it and said she thinks the pictures were upside down and the mark might be Japanese. Now we think it is the rising sun and three characters under it. Any thoughts appreciated.
    I also drew a pic of what is my best guess what it looks like.

    Funny. Did you get a chance to look at the greek writing on the other rooster?

    The characters(?) aren't Japanese, that's all I know.
