Any other works seen - I was told the artist is a New England painter. 16x20 oil/canvas of the steam engine at the Pratt Institute. Signed 'A. Odell, 2007'. upload_2026-8-13_8-14-2.jpeg

    Cool painting @Drew!

It looks way more 1920's-30's to me than contemporary 21st C, and that's a plus in my book.

Same here. The oilers on that engine are pure 30s or earlier, for certain.

Only now I see that there's a nearly identical painting on the "engine" page. Unsigned, and the colors seem to be a bit different.

    Probably.
Found it weird that some highlights aren't visible in the "site painting", and the wall looks yellow in one, and pink in the other

Yes, strong first impression was 1930's WPA realist school- love that era.In the midst of the Great Depression the Roosevelt Administration employed roughly 8.5 million Americans between its creation in 1935 and its closure in 1943.
It was a huge part in the country surviving 'Hard Times'.

Same painting - the darker image is from her website listing done years ago of the series before being signed apparently. I took the brighter photo recently. Found the painting in Amesbury Ma., right next door to home of the artist in Newburyport.

Hey @Marote: I bet you're really good at those 'Spot the Differences' games with two images. Here in the US, they print those on the backs of breakfast cereal boxes.
