Featured Thrift store furniture

@verybrad Considering the furniture prices, what kind of amounts does your 'local charity thrift' ask for Jewelry ?

 

The side by sides are in the dumper. Maybe people think them too big to move easily. Saw a very nice refinished oak one on marketplace today for $75.00.

The thrifts rarely put out any good jewelry anymore. Put out junk and much is overpriced. Goodwill has stopped selling jewelry at all in their stores. Must all go to their on-line site but I haven't checked.

 

Speaking of too big to move easily...... Seller claims it does not come apart. 6' tall by a bit over 8' wide. Sure it was a built-in at one point. Asking $200 and about 50 miles from me on fb marketplace. When I was actively dealing and refinishing, I would have been all over this. Now, I have no place, no time, and no future for this. Kind of sad really, as I think it a killer piece at a bargain price.

 

Absolute Arts & Crafts stunner-makes a room.Agree, if I was still a kid and had a barn-I'd be all over this.
God knows what they'd be asking on 1st Dibs !?
PS- In the Midwest would they have built this of fir, something else ?

If I had the physical ability and a place to put it...those doors are killer.

I think they're all doing that now. They "curate" what goes out, and anything good doesnt. Even a little charity thrift connected to a food bank does it. They lens everything. Ill Will/HoodWill stopped selling jewelry here even before the Pandemic.

What all of these places fail to understand is that while they make more money in the short term, they're trashing the goodwill of local shoppers in the long term. Once it's gone, it's gone. If you cheese off enough locals, donations dry up and then where are you.

 

Could be some kind of pine but, more likely, oak or a hardwood such as birch stained to mimic mahogany.

 

Lordy-oak would be somethin' else !

 

This has been sitting at Goodwill for a couple weeks. Nice little piece but they have it priced $150.00. Would be a pain to strip, as it is painted inside and out. It is oak under the paint. There is a chunk of wood missing there where the drawer inserts on the right. It is also a bit rickety. No way it is worth what they are asking. I wouldn't even consider it at half price.

 

If I was a glutton for punishment I'd buy it to mess with for $20, max.

 

Not thrift store, but this popped up on fb marketplace this morning. Asking $125.00. Seems like a bargain, particularly in comparison to the Goodwill piece posted above. Central IL and still available, if anyone is inclined to purchase.

 

This one looks like it could move right in and make itself comfortable. The other would look more comfortable on the burn pile in its present state.

 

Not a thrift store but in a secondhand store,80’s postmodern (art deco look) style. Don’t like the chairs much (also not very comfortable) but I do like the pedestal table and especially the very cool glass column/pillar. At about $400 I think is too much money? (Unless it’s by some known furniture designer)

 

4 bills is a lot......but glass is expensive...
see if they'll bargain?

 

Doesn't really look like a set, does it? Are the chairs leather? (The similars I see with a Google Images search are.)

The chairs? The less said, the better. The table is attractive.

 

I like the table,but don’t think I really have space for it. Plus I don’t want the chairs (and those would be hard to resell)

Also don’t like them. But looks like they could be worth some money,if and that’s a very big ‘if’ you can find that specific buyer/unique person (and that will probably take time) For me they will probably then just end up in storage (so not worth it) That design and thick heavy glass of the pillar is very cool.

 

They do look like a knock-off of the 'Sossano' chair. Not quite the same quality.

If I could only buy the centre pillar I would. For me that pillar with a thick or double glass rectangular top would look great as a entrance table..
