This is 3 1/4" long, 1/2" wide; weight is ~10 grams. The back bears 5 marks: Taxco an' 0.925 at the lower edge; signature an' Mexico at the upper edge; the Mexican Eagle (pre-'56, delineated) at the tail V, but I cannot read either the signature or the 2 numerals in the Eagle...though they may be '33' or '39'. I will appreciate whatever assistance or comments y'all can offer on this wee puzzle!
    Thanks for lookin'!

Just a fish, I think - no Greek letters in the middle (IXOYE or it looks like that - Jesus Christ, King of the Jews IIRC) . #89 in the eagle mark, if that helps.

My understanding is the Jesus Fish swims left; the crossed lines of the tail are to the right.

The Eagle 89 brings up DELFINO, a Taxco artisan during the Mid Century era.

Coincidentally, delfin means "dolphin" in Spanish.

You beat me to it, Fig...an' the RubyLane is a dead ringer for mine, except for theirs is an Eagle 3, for Taxco, so later than mine I believe. Thanks!

Almost. Hard to do without a Greek character set: ΙΧΘΥΣ Greek grammar works differently than English, so the Greek words are not quite in this order, but Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior. INRI is Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, in Latin letters.

I'm familiar with the INRI mark; it's on every crucfix in town. I never knew the proper translation for the Greek mark.

The shape of the eagle on your brooch is the one used between 1955-80.
I am not sure that is how it works. According to Hougart, Delfino used Eagle 3, 19, and 39. Different numbers indicate different designers, makers or locations (within Taxco), and are more of an indication for the workshop itself, so a piece could be identified as being by a particular maker.
So 3 could be the first location before they branched out to other locations. That first location would continue to manufacture.
Alternatively, 3 could be the first silversmith that worked for Delfino, and the others came later, while nr #3 was still working there.
Since many Taxco makers used Eagle 3, my guess is that it is a code for the street. So the location.
Looks like Delfino is the name of the workshop, not of a single maker. So just Delfino.
