Are there any indications of a later marriage other than the less than perfect match for size? The impression I have formed over the years is that the jet frames were made in standard sizes, while there is no standard sizing for shell cameos. I have seen many where it looks to me like the edges of the cameo have been shaved down to make it fit the frame, sometimes leaving a disproportionately small field around the figure. I only have one, quite a large, thick, heavy conch shell cameo, in a jet frame that rises & falls with the shape of the shell.

It occurs to me that jet & conch shell may have been paired so much not because people like the combo of pink & black but because most conch shell cameos have flat backs & level edges. When jet was used for helmet shell pieces, the fit is often uneasy.

The first time I bought a cameo in a jet frame I all but accused the English seller of passing off plastic as jet, it was so glossy & light. I got a steal on this one because it was written up as being Celluloid:

I'll have to dig it out and look. I remember the poor kind of looking scrunched.

The bottle on the left is the newest addition to my collection. I had bought the atomizer back in 2024. These are DeVilbiss No. N-15 & DN-15. They are shown in the 1925 & 1926 catalogs. The bulb on the atomizer has a hand-crochet cover that has pale blue glass beads. DeVilbiss employed women to make the hand-crocheted covers for the bulbs. The beaded coverings were used on the higher end bottles. I have another atomizer that has pink beads. The atomizer is 7 1/2" to the top if the hardware & the dauber bottle is 6 7/8" to the top of the dauber.

Story time. I got up at 4 am to go to a local annual flea market. It used to be people selling yard sale things, but this year it was ALL dealers. Practically no jewelry, people were not set up by 7:30, so I drove to my flea market. Good thing. Everything was $1 or $2 a piece.

I then drove back to the flea market before going home. The sterling peacock and pendant were reasonable for dealer prices.

And then I found these for a total of $10. Sterling Creed rosary in a vintage Japan box and an antique costume cross with diamante rhinestones.

Carved bakelite. Score! The sterling rosary probably got missed because the box wasn't silver.
