Old photo restoration

That sculpture is very..... enthusiastic!

 

That's Brabo. He was a Roman soldier. There was a giant that controlled shipping and would cut off the hand of any ship's captain who refused to pay the toll and throw them in the river. Brabo cut off the giant's hand and threw it into the river, thus freeing the district. The area of Belgium known as Brabant is named for him. The statue represents him throwing the hand. Antwerp is supposedly called that because it can be loosely translated as (H)ant (hand) Werpen (launch, or throw). Kristiaan will correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what we learned.

That is correct!
All I can ad is that the sculptor made a error!
Try to throw anything (not just a hand) with a run-up, with the same arm(and hand) as the leg you are leaning on...it is not easy...
The sculptor's name is Jef Lambeaux.
He also made this sculpture;

But not suitable to put on a public place ...( at that time...) ;-)

 

Here is a pic of the bakery I was talking about.
The pic was taken in 1934, for the 50 th anniversary.
The shop and the facade, didn't change since.
The place is about 5 to 6 minutes walk from Brabo.

Europeans in general are not prudish. We see this figure every time we drive from Brussels to Kortrijk.

 

I have VERY FEW photos of myself but a picture of myself at 18yrs. old is damaged, all in one piece but with a crack in it .. would anyone here be able to repair it ? I would be most grateful .. I would mail it to you .. Joy.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think those photos represent repaired originals. I think they are producing cleaned up digitized images from the originals. In several of the instances, I am seeing differences in the re-worked pictures that are markedly inconsistent with the originals.

@Christmasjoy: I can't repair your photo, but I may be able to supply you with a digital image suitable for printing. A look at the damage, or maybe the worst section of the damage, would make it easier to tell if there's anything I can do.
