15773983205390405.gif The subject matter, colors, and violent wave movement drew me to this unsigned painting. Not the best pic, I know, but I am curious if anyone knows anything about it, or even if it evokes a certain mood (or moods) in you, too?

I thought about "The Perfect Storm" scene too, but thought the boat looked different.

    Nice painting, dude.
I keep hearing the beeps of the shipping forecast.... Fierce gale from the north. (No, not a fierce Gael from the north.)

got nothing to do with "carmudgeon". I'm already seasick when looking at it.

My apologies, chap. Misread the triple "puke" emojis.

I can see why you were attracted to it. A very dramatic viewpoint. Would you give us size please? And a photograph of the back with frame?

Contemporary frame. And sofa sized which is a bit worrisome. There is wording impressed on frame back? Can you read it?

Good call on the frame. Some more pieces of the puzzle are coming together. I can't read that part but found other clues I hadn't thought to look for. Looks like someone wrote "Fran Lawley" and the frame is Grumbacher New York. I had this in a consignment shop, so someone could have scribbled the name on. Also, the painting went missing, then magically reappeared weeks later.

Not much to go on there but... The canvas looks as new as the frame.

Grumbacher is an artist supply store. They sell paints and canvas. My guess is this is an amateurs' artist work.
    Looks about 1975 ish.

Fran Lawley painted it for either herself or school.
