For the record the client called this table "ugly" (not me). :) It's different looking. I know that much.

Well, I don't think it's "ugly." Perhaps not the most attractive "occasional" table, but by no means ugly.

Agreed. Apparently the client has had a dislike of it for a long time now. She referred to it as that ugly table with the skinny legs. I thought it was funny.

It's older and in desperate need of refinishing. Poor thing may well go back to the 20s or earlier and someone's had it in the sun. Cute little table though.

Maybe she sit it on the porch at some point. I could see it holding an ivy nicely. It is kind of quirky hopefully it can find someone who will give it some TLC :)

Everyone in my family had these. They were always called "plant" tables and had a plant on top and something collectible on the bottom. I'm wondering if this is a 1950s repro because it doesn't look as old as the ones I'm used to

    Hello
These type of tables I feel were made manly by wood turners ,who had turning skills and could drill a few holes on the angles to make up the table.
Because there was not much cabinet making skill involved they were simple to make.
I am not sure if this one has a replacement top as it is strange the platform is shaped and the top is square (oblong) Is the shelf the same timber as the top?

    Regards Giotto.

Yeah, i do that on my posts from time to time to correct the record, Swiss tabletops imported to america anyone? :hilarious:
Agrees that posing questions to inactive members is rather pointless, kinda like talking on the phone when no one is on the other end. :p
I wasn't here when the OP table appeared but, ugly as sin.:sorry:

Yep, that's what i know them as, plant stand.
