Featured Unsigned serpentine Inuit? carving...

    This stone carving is 5.5" long, and 4" high. Appears almost black but in very bright light it is actually dark green (I think serpentine). I'm including a pic under a bright light to see the color. I'm assuming hopefully correctly that this is an Inuit carving. My question is what is depicted here... a mermaid type figure? Or just a woman/girl wrestling/holding a fish?

    Found in a thrift store so where it came from before then is anyone's guess.

    It might be a black basalt carving...of a hunter with a fish...maybe...early...???

    I was ready to suggest basalt. That's what this is:

    Olivine inclusions are common.
