Hey Bulldog

This is one of my favorite pieces! Some pretty significant damage here but I just love the look. What can you tell me about it? Saw one similar or the same advertised at an estate sale over the summer. It was gone when I arrived, then serendipitously this was sitting at a thrift store waiting for me days later priced at under $5. There are three markS on bottom. A “22” on left, a “36” or “56” in center, then something in a shield like shape on the right. I’ve never been able to make out the shield mark. Any help is appreciated!!! I’ve always assumed if was a Bulldog but I suppose it could be a Pug or otherwise.

 

I was thinking Pug. Love those eyes.

Bingo! Thanks! There’s a bunch without the C&B shield so it’s cool mine has it. I have what seems to be the largest model. This was one of, if not my favorite thrift find of 2019! A signed Ben Shahn, Fredrick Douglas Litho was another good one!

 

Looks like I did pretty good at $2-$5!!! Too bad there’s so much damage but at that price it’s hard to beat. Sold listings reflect a more realistic price $150ish-$250ish. There’s a few sizes and seemingly a few makers (that or C&B used a bunch of different marks and didn’t mark others altogether)
