That’s all I know and there are absolutely no markings. Any help would be very appreciated.

    Hi, AWood, and welcome!

I'm not the person to help ID your item, but you might want to do a search for "brass ewer with cherub" and "brass ewer with putti". There are a number of different (but similar) versions of this on Google Images.

I haven't heard the Vatican story before, but I know they've been made for a number of years.

Is the ewer open inside so it would hold flowers, or is it sealed inside so that it would not be able to hold flowers?

Ewers from the Victorian era would have been sold as pairs to grace a mantle.
Whether yours is open like a vase or closed will tell us if yours is old or a replica.

May we see a photo taken directly into the bottom of it please?

It is not opened inside, so it’s a replica then?

Would be nice to see a clear photo of this area, we could probably look at it and determine what material it is made from. 25B2F5A7-075E-4AE8-9322-E9D27B3E59DA.jpeg

    Yes, more than likely.
Think it was the 1950s that they were remade.
Most likely spelter/pot metal that has been bronzed.

    Garniture - thanks @gregsglass that's what I couldn't remember last night.

    Any guess as to value?

Think anyone would need better photos to even give you a range. I see what look like casting flaws all over it, like the hole in Cupid’s arm. What it is made of matters too. I guess we won’t get to see view of the bottom? From what little I can see of it so far, I think you’d be doing very well to get $50. For it.

Value isn't much, as it's only one of a pair. Twenty quid or so over here.
