Antique japanese plate mark ?

    15784310265342470184124564009745.jpg Hi I came across this plate / charger at my friends house that she was clearing as it is a deceased estate wondering if anybody could tell me
    1 is it japanese
    2 any idea on period or any other info

    Japanese, looks Yokohama-ish c.1900 ...pretty crappy pics though, did you use a brown filter?

    No the lighting in my house not great but the plate is an off white colour aswell thanks for your input much appreciated

    I wonder whether at least some parts of the decor on the plate was done with transfers. The very large bird in the lower right scene (admittedly upside down) looks to me like transfer.

    No that eagle/hawk is hand painted, @Bakersgma - if you enlarge it, it's a bit more easy to see. The Japanese really didn't go in for transfer printing that much at this time, in fact I can't recall seeing any ....
