    Hi there,

It would be great if you could help me identify the wood type and rough age/century of the following items I have.
    - wooden panel, possibly Victorian era
    - wooden bowl with repairs
    - wooden stool

    Any thoughts much appreciated! panel.jpg panel2.jpg wooden bowl.jpg wooden bowl 2.jpg stool.jpg stool2.jpg

Wheatsheaf looks like oak, bandsaw marks on the bowl suggest not as old as it looks, stool not so old ...nobody in their right mind makes milking stools with four legs, bad design, hard to level. Stools like this should only have three legs.

The bowl or dough dish is of a type that is seen a lot in the Balkans and Turkey. As blooey said, it is not as old as it wants to be. Turkey is notorious for fake antiques.

The stool could be 1960s, but looks like it has been left out on a porch. I don't think it was ever meant to be for milking, just to be a stool, maybe for kids.

Don't think the carving is meant to be a wheatsheaf, it has berries as well.

Thanks for your message. Any guesses on decades / centuries?

Haha! Also, aware about the four legs as I'm a maker myself!

Thanks for the reply. Interesting! Shame if it's pretty new but oh well.

Yeh, a milking stool would usually have 3 legs.

Do you think the panel could be Victorian era?

Could be. Maybe salvaged from a larger piece? I could picture it between two cabinet doors.

Band saws have been in use since the 1860's,but doubt the bowl is that old.

Real antiques (in my world) have pit saw marks.

Any ideas on what kind of wood the bowl/dish could be?
