Not sure what I have here...maybe a small bronze planter?

    Hello all,

I picked up this item at a flea market the other day and I was wondering if you might know what it is and how old it might be.

    Height: 5.5 inches
    Diameter (upper): 8.25 inches

It seems to be bronze and all of the embossed detail work appears to have been done by hand. For example, the circles that make up the decorative border around the side of the object are not in a perfectly straight line and in some cases overlap, suggesting an error by the craftsperson (you can see this in the photos). The handles appear to be held in place by bronze rivets, not screws.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any insight you may have.

Edit: I've edited this post to upload the photos directly.

Thanks! I think I got it right this time. Here's the bottom (no visible maker's mark or anything, as near as I can tell.)

Modern decorative item made to look old with applied patina or left outside for a year or two. Probably made in India.

Thanks for your help! I was just gonna use it as a planter anyway, and that shouldn't be a problem now.

Please don't think that we are "mean" telling you truth, I am sure that it is the best tell people if "something is NOTHING".... Juts save a lot of your time from spending it for searching for NOTHING... Though this truth is "killing" our "hope for big money", but at least it save time... because otherwise it could be: NO time and NO "big money" Good Luck in future! It is gambling!....or can say: fishing.... you never know if you will catch some fish or no and even if something will be on the hook, but still in the water.... you never know if it is a fish or just old shoe.... :joyful:

Oh, no doubt. As a total amateur, the truth is all I was looking for. It'll make a perfectly fine planter for a $3 investment!
