Yes, the whole set. In "original" condition, but time hasn't treated it so well lately, unfortunately. I figured I'd post the pictures so people can at least see what a "full set" looks like. I know we've had people post individual pieces here.

It came from the family farm, and as the contents were being sold, we were offered $200 for the whole set. Apparently no one really wanted, or would pay much for Eastlake furniture twenty five or thirty years ago either, and I couldn't bear to let it go for so little, as I loved the armchair. It was very comfortable.

I had it in my little apartment, and then nearly 20 years ago I met my current wife, so it came with me, but...

No room for it! Down in the basement it went, in a pile, where it has been ever since, until now. It was a nice dry basement, so I wasn't worried about it, but then Hurricane Irene happened, and some water came in a basement window. The furniture did NOT get wet, but the damage was done. The humidity in the air made a lot of the veneer peel off the front of the furniture below the cushion area.

Long story short, it is time for the furniture to go, as my wife and I are packing up the house for a move to Florida, and we can't take it with us.

I managed to snap a few pictures in the dark before loading it up in a van for my brother to take. I'm not sure what he will do with it, but it's his problem now.

Sorry for the poor quality pics. It's the best I could do under the circumstances.

Sorry it has to go. As you've surmised, there's not much value left. I'd doubt that it's worth the cost of restoration. Sad, because, as we all know, "they don't build them like this anymore."

I hope your brother can find something good to do with the set. Kudos to him!

Even before the humidity got it, Eastlake is selling for pennies on its former dollar. I happen to love the stuff, but I grew up with it.

If only the humidity hadn't got to the veneer. The wood was in very good condition otherwise. No mold, or cracked or broken pieces. Even the joints were still nice and tight. The fabric was in good condition too, except for being faded I assume. I'm not sure what the fabric would have looked like when it was new.

I loved this furniture, but just didn't have the house for it.

I loved it growing up with it at my grandparents' home, but I sold it soon after inheriting it. I like saying a last "good-bye" to yours too!

    Agrees, it is sad.
Once a piece of furniture gets demoted out of the house living space to the basement, attic, garage, barn, bla bla bla, it's chances of survival go WAY DOWN!
This furniture story illustrates this reality perfectly.
Which is one reason i am an advocate for paint, yes, even that shabby crapola that i hate, which is popular now or was anyway.
If shabby chic keeps the piece in the house, PAINT AWAY I SAY!!!:singing::singing::singing:
