Featured Mystery Artist and background

A few years ago I picked up this watercolor. I did some research and found and artist (Brent Crabb) who had rendered the same scene. I emailed him and he explained that he'd copied the image from an old book his grandmother had given him . I'm not crazy about it but it is striking and I have never been able to figure out the artist's name or find the original image it was painted from. Let me know if you can figure it out!

Wow this is pretty interesting! I do not know the artist that did the watercolor but I believe he may have been inspired by the same photograph that I was. Back in the 70's my grandmother gave me a book with old black and white photos depicting the cowboy life style out west... I wish I still had the book that I found the original photo in. It's pretty amazing that you found a watercolor painting that somebody else did based on the same image. Thanks for the questions and sending the images.

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain it very well. Brent Crabb is not the artist of my watercolor.

i have looked up Elrito and found that there is an artist collective by that name in NM. I've emailed them, asking if they might recognize the first part of the "signature". I'll update when i hear back
