many companies made very similar daisy & button designs; photos of the glass showing edge details, profile and dimensions might help. looks EAPG era c1880s

    Hi,
It looks nice but It needs better photos. A lot of reproduction jars were made in the 70s/80s. They fit nicely into original frames. My friend paid a lot of money for a vaseline pickle castor, she is a very astude collector. I had the misfortune of having to tell her the glass was a replacement. She thought I was crazy but then showed her the advertisment of all the repro glass available. It is a beautiful piece but that darn glass replacement kills the deal.

The castors have also been made in recent times. Some photos without the glass and of any marks may also help.

I will give measurements. The design is daisy button and the glass is very sharp like my other EAPG. A lot of the repros were really smooth.

The stand is 11 inches tall and the bottom is marked with a W638. The bottom of the stand is 4 and a half wide. The tongs are six and a half long. I hope this helps with figuring out what year this is from and who made it.

I've wanted one for soooo long and you don't see many of them at antique shops or estate sales

2 thoughts - First, I suspect the top is a "marriage." It should have a flange that covers the smooth rim of the glass to keep the lid firmly in place.

Second, the W is way oversized as compared to the numerals, which seems strange. It may actually be a maker's mark. Have you checked the interior side of the tongs for marks?

No marks on the tongs. I didn't think the lid was original. But the jar I believe to be. The mark on the bottom of the stand I also believe is a makers mark

Even at max expansion of the picture of the marks, it's difficult to see what that really is. Almost looks like it was scratched in, rather than impressed. If you hold the bottom at various angles to strong light, do you see anything else?

In the meantime, I'm going to ping @DragonflyWink who has quite a collection of vintage catalogues, in case the decoration at the top of the frame strikes a chord.

The W looks to be engraved or scratched in but the 638 wasn't. I believe the jar itself is real EAPG. The frame I don't know. Ill be looking for the celery jar to go with it

Just a suggestion, the pattern is called "Daisy AND Button", its a nit pick, but the AND is just as important as the Daisy. Original name, Hobnail.
