Featured Asian 3d Scene

    I am unsure what to call this artwork, but is clearly from Asia. Measurements are 7.5" x 1.5" x 6.5"- w/o the frame. Material is made of wood, then painted over with gold. The scene is a master on horseback being fanned by a servant. Looks like two townspeople to his right, with a female carrying an item to his left. Any ideas to the origin of this type of work?     Yes, it is, from China, and beautiful.
    The scenes on these panels are usually from mythology, legend, or other well-known stories.
    The scene looks like an official with Ruyi scepter dismounting and being welcomed into a house, maybe his own house.
    Originally panels like yours were part of a house or a piece of furniture. As shown in these photos:

    That is quite a bed! Must have been from a very wealthy person? What would you guess the dating would be?

    It is called a wedding bed, yes, you'd have to be wealthy to have one of those.
    Could you show us photos of the entire front and back?
