Edna Hibel Title, Subject??

I like the gracefulness and serenity of the image. I think it may be a serigraph (screen print) rather than a lithograph.

 

Thanks so much Bronwen!! Bronwen, Mark London says signature on the piece I have looks a little sketchy, your thoughts??? Are you familiar with Hibel ?

No this thread introduced me to her. My observations are that: the colors of your piece are much paler than others I saw browsing through search results; the black signature definitely looks hand applied; the black signature looks to me like it was done with something like a Sharpie rather than pencil. I don't know what Mark means by 'sketchy'. It looks firm & complete to me with slight differences from the red, in the plate signature, that are natural to signatures that are not copies.

 

You're very welcome! I'm always learning new stuff myself. I took a silk screening class years ago, and the close up reminded me of what silk screen prints look like.

The basic difference is that lithographs are created using plates, while in serigraphs (screen prints) the color is forced through a screen. This article might interest you...

I wasn't familiar with Hibel's work and don't know about the signature, sorry!

The value of art depends on many factors so you'll probably need to either find comparable work of hers that sold or get an assessment from someone with expertise.
