I did some research and I think it is accounts records from Rajasthan. Probably 19th century. Difficult to understand why the owner wanted to make the writing on the back visible with double glass.

Many 20th century Mughal style paintings were done on the backs of old papers to give an impression of age. Maybe they still do that.
The combination of the painting on a text that has nothing to do with it leads me to believe the painting itself is relatively recent. It is lovely though.

The owner probably thought the text pertained to the painting.

 

I agree with you. The flowers and butterflies are drawn in a beautiful way. Indian painting is new to me but it gives me nice feelings.
