I ran across this unattributed image of a "beverage heater" , for lack of a proper term. It piqued my curiosity. Not being a linguist, I was hoping someone could determine the language of the label in the lower right hand corner, and perhaps it's history. Thanks! tea caddy.jpg

Gorgeous, Darkwing, wow! Is this in a museum?
The style is looks very Russian to me, so I assume the Cyrillic writing goes with the object. @Figtree3 ?:)

That chicken footed thing rings a bell from Russian folk tales. Not Baba Yar, sometihng else.

    Hi,
I remember a Russian story about a witch who lived in a house with giant chicken legs. Goodness that had to be 75 years ago.

Greg, that's Baba Yaga. (I got Yar wrong.) Lives in a hut with chicken legs.

    Hi OBB,
That was her name. I do not remember where I was reading about her when I was a kid. My family thinks I am crazy since I remember so much but am always forgetting my phone number.

    Hi Bronwen,
I did not know words like Exhibition when I was that young. I remember reading kids books and magazines when I was that young. Would have been printed before 1945

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The language does appear to be Russian.

Highlights magazine for kids used to run Baba Yaga stories. If people got too close, her house on chicken legs would run further into the woods. I loved those stories.
