Peerless Furniture Co., Shippensburg, PA. Started in 1910. I have found very little information on the internet.

I believe this would be called a library table, but it looks like the writing surface (leather?) has been removed. Also, on the first picture, right side, it appears to be missing the end piece to make it flush with the rest of the table.

I don't think it had a leather top.
Think what we see is either dust or mildew. You can see the inlay on the top.
Think this would be 1920-30ish.

This would be a good candidate for Howard's Restor-A- Finish and Feed and Wax.
First use a damp cloth (not soaking wet) and wipe all the dirt and grime off. Then use the Restor., finish off with the Feed and Wax

I don't think there was leather....there is an elongated diamond shaped inlay. The longer inlaid center section raises up on hinges and the shorter side sections slide underneath it.

As for the sides going under the top, that is something the English did.
Not done on American tables that I know of.

 

Hi. My name is Keith and I came across this website. We have an old table that looks to be the same table in this thread. Overall its in pretty good shape except 1 small piece on the end. My in laws bought it years ago and it's been sitting in the basement. Was wondering if anyone has some other info on this. Thanks in advanced.

You might want to copy and save this for reference for a while....it helps when you're new!!!

For Future reference, when posting images:

Each image MUST be UNDER 1 MB....
There are instructions on site here on how to reduce the size of your image, if that is the problem......you are allowed up to 10 images per post!!! Here are some links to the instructions:

Try emailing them to yourself as "medium" size, they should then be under 1 MB!
