Unusual sled

    I found this item, described as a sled, hanging on the wall at my local architectural salvage place. They knew very little about it and I'm wondering if anyone has seen one like it and would know more about it.     I thought about that but the only ones I found had two parallel runners like a snow sled. Another friend of mine suggested it may have been towed behind a boat.
