    Hey guys! My name's Cara. I've been collecting for a little over 2 years now. My collection consists of letters, photographs (200+ now), tintypes, postcards, and diaries. I mostly look for photographs featuring really unique things or really sweet little moments of love or everyday life. As for postcards - literally anything with a bunch of writing on the back. I need some help dating some photographs just out of interest - so any inout is appreciated. Super glad to have found this forum and am looking forward to talking with you guys!

    Welcome @Cara Lyn ! You definitely read some interesting things in old letters and on the back of old postcards ! I have a letter from a relative by marriage that was a Union Corpsman to General Meade ( he was one of his relatives) during the Civil War and in the letter he is describing the inauguration of President Andrew Johnson and how many thought he was "drunk" during his swearing in ceremony.... that , along with other letters, was rescued from an open redwood cigar box in a root cellar next to a creek in my Cousin's grandmothers house...how those letters survived I will never know............

    Wow! that's incredible. One of the oldest books in my collection is from 1837 and i nabbed that from my grandmother's house as a child. Cellars do wonders in preservation apparently haha
