I have no idea how much this is worth or how rare it really is, but i assume it to be quite rare as all google searches have led me up to a diffrent, and more boreing design of this object. I am not sure how old it is but for sure it is made in japan and says "our own imports" this is an ashtray piggy bank combo most likely from the good ole days where things cost a few cents it was where you threw your spare change for your next pack of smokes :p.

I bought this at a thrift shop for 25¢ and the seller said "it's probably a collectable" I would like to know how much it is worth it is in mint condition with only the cover hole missing and it appears to have a manufacturing error which makes coins not properly slide though the ball, or maby this was intentional but it is defiantly not from wear and tear that abnormality.

how old is it? ball park of what it is worth? how rare is it?

I love it.... 1950-60ish maybe slightly older.
    But it's worth about $10.

ah dang 10$ only? I would think it would be rarer because don't see them on google, or at least the variant i have.

If I had a shop still I'd put the magic $12 on it but I may have kept it for I like such things.

yea i have seen all those but the one i have actauly has the ball rack pins and the coin even rolls down the ramp to "strike" the pins I've never seen the design like I have.

also all those examples are 'Just' ashtrays mine is an ashtray And bank. i thught i saw one that was both but it was a single black pin with coin slot and ashtray on top..... boring compared to this one.

and i guess there low-value is simply the demand for them is low?

Novelty ashtrays were popular about 15 or 20 years ago, but with the continued decline in smoking, the interest has gone down as well.

Just because something is "collectible" doesn't mean it's valuable...same goes with age/old.

Its a mass produced item , so by its very nature it wouldnt be rare or valuable . Just because you cant find it on google doesnt mean there arent 1000s out there . Its cute , but smoking items are at rock bottom , especially ashtrays .

If everyone in just the western countries alone , were to up load photo's of every chatchke , dish, pin, vase, ashtray, ring, painting....ect ect...that they owned....Google would have to be 100,000 times the size it is now !!

Alessa, the link I gave you in my reply above #11 is not only an ashtray but also a bank with the ball rack pins and ramp the coin rolls down to strike the pins like yours.
