Can anyone help with identifying and value of desk?

Hello, I recently inherited this desk and am wanting to sell it and have no idea what era it's from, what it's made of and what I might be able to ask for it. It's 43" wide, 30 1/2" tall and 27" deep.

 

It is an early 20th century Empire Revival oak library table. As to value, I think we have the same issues as with your buffet/hutch. Here in the Midwest, the going rate on something like this is about $150.00-200.00 retail. It does have nice quartersawn oak veneer and seems to be in good condition so maybe on the high end of those figures or just a bit more. In Seattle, you might be able to push it even more.

One thing with furniture is the cost of moving it anywhere. It usually involves a van or truck and a couple of strong lads to move it so just shifting something down the block could cost $100. Then you have to add on the cost of storing it for a while till a buyer comes along, fine if you have an empty barn doing nothing, but likely to be expensive somewhere where there any actual buyers around.

It is one of the reasons stuff gets given away or sold for pennies, moving and storage. I'd buy loads of good antique furniture if I had some way of moving it and somewhere to put it. There is certainly plenty around.
