Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum. I'm hoping someone here can identify this pewter ice bucket. It's quite heavy measures 9" in height and 8" in diameter. It has a knights helmet design around it. It does not have any makers marks or the marks Ice Bucket.jpg Ice Bucket-1.jpg Ice Bucket-3.jpg Ice Bucket-2.jpg

Can we see a picture looking into the interior? Does it look like it ever had a lid?

Doesn't pewter have to be marked?

    Welcome Malcolm.

It could be Jugendstil, German Art Nouveau.
Jugendstil generally has a strong, linear look which often looks more Art Deco, although they also did French style 'whiplash' and floral designs.

I'm really not sure, but I feel this ice bucket may have had the mark polished out over the years.

I originally thought Jugendstil, but without a sure makers mark can't be positive. It's certainly heavy enough. Also Arts & Crafts has a strong look but I've done lots of research and can't find anything even similar anywhere.

Something shinier than pewter, SIS, the sheen just looks too bright for pewter to me. I haven't found anything similar yet either. I will check Albin Muller and Tudric designers, I really love this. Looks like "Arts and Crafts" period to me.

If it has no markings, how do you know it's pewter?

Hi Bakersgma, I scratched the bottom with a small tack and it marks very easily. I also collect WMF and that's one of the reasons I purchased this ice bucket.

It is polished pewter. I've tested it.
